We’ve teamed up with local charity Football United Racism Divides. to release this limited edition BLACKOUT Jersey to raise awareness of the #BlackLivesMatter campaign.

You’ve all seen the disturbing footage on the news recently of the tragic passing of George Floyd, which has once again highlighted the systemic racism that exists in modern society.

Racism is a cancer of society that we must all work together to eradicate… where prejudice, inequality and injustice lie, we must all take a stance and say NO! Black Lives Matter is not simply a statement that shouts one set of lives is more important than another, but, in contrast, a movement that seeks to highlight and address the many inequalities and inconsistencies black communities face.

FURD - established in 1995 in the Sharrow area of Sheffield - works locally, nationally and internationally to combat racism and increase understanding between different communities.

News emerged recently that our very own David McGoldrick was behind the idea for all players to take a knee prior to the Premier League’s long-awaited return.

THE DESIGN
The BLACKOUT Jersey features our popular circular monogram logo as well as both Football Unites Racism Divides and #BLM motifs. WHARTON #1 adorns the back, celebrating Arthur Wharton - the first ever the mixed-heritage player to play in the top flight - doing so for United in the 1894/95 season.
